i hate to revive a dead thread, but i am having the same issue on cylinder #1. was the injector the problem?

The flow matched injectors helped, I found a cracked injector hat on cylinder 3, but it's not perfect yet. Still at full throttle it's not totally running right. I don't think this one has had a intake manifold gasket job yet, and I would bet having a AFPR -Adjustable fuel pressure regulator) would allow me to compensate for a slight air leak on one of the cylinders that is backfiring. So I bought one from a guy who had a supercharger kit takeoff on a firebird, with the same style fuel connectors and I am going to try that.
so i spent a few hrs fiddling around today. my problem was that a spark plug had failed internally. it looked fine on the tip and had no cracks., kinda pissed me off cause it was such a simple fix.
nonetheless, i hope the AFPR works for you
