Hey guys I've noticed a somewhat loud hissing noise coming from the rear underneath part of my 97 gp gt. It definitely louder on the drivers side and I almost thought that one of my tires was leaking haha. Is it most likely time for a new fuel pump for me? I know its weak because I leave in my key on for a couple seconds before starting so the fuel pressure can reach the engine. I just wanted to know what you guys think? Thanks a bunch.

Sounds like an exhaust leak.

No its not that because when I just turn my key on w/o engine i hear the noise for a second I just want to know if I need to actually REPLACE the fuel pump or is this noise normal or what?

Noisy fuel pumps are a standard GM feature. Likely it's what you hear. Doesn't really mean anything though. What means more is that you already know you have a pump issue and you'd like us to say it's time to change out the pump.
Being a nice guy, I'm going to suggest you check out TREPerformance.com for a pump. I've used them for a high flow in the Bonneville, a regular pump in my truck and Regal will be getting one when I get off my lazy butt. Prices are tough to beat and I've put a healthy 3+ years of testing into their pumps.

All of my fuel pumps make a hissing noise. I thought that was just the sound of them running

Check fuel pressure.

Well i have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix 3.8 GT and i just recently heard a hissing noise near fuel tank, Chevy told me thats just how they are. Fuel pressure was good and i didnt have to worry. but, ive changed fuel filter, replaced rear exhaust manifold gasket and welded cuz it had crack, flange gasket, water pump, thermostat, spark plugs, wires, now car runs great. i still think i have bad gas miliage and idk why. but when ac is on for a long period of time, temp stays up above 210 around 245 or so and that seems too hot for the car. coolent level isnt low. it doesnt do this when ac is off. anyone know why???

Yes, that would be that the fans are factory programmed to come on at 216F and 228F.
