I'm getting my parts for my top swap from the junkyard and have come across a few North Star caddy's. I've seen some threads mentioning using the throttle body. Are there other North Star parts I could salvage that would work and be an upgrade when I do my swap?

Normally I would agreed with you, but if you can find a 2000+ Northstar, grab the TB and the MAF. They are a good upgrade

    IMO...after driving a N* TB'd car...I hated it.

    Nick will vouch too.

A L67 TB/ZZP Billet/LS1 setup is the way to go.

The LS throttle bodies came in the 99-2002 4.8, 5.3, 6.0 trucks. Also in any LS powered f-body as well. Your going to need an adapter as well to get them to work though.

agreed. the pedal feel is crap defined.

if i were to upgrade throttle bodies (you dont see a ton of need for a massive oversized one on this platform for some reason) i would just port the stock one. that's all i had on my car.

They are not...its a DOHC motor...right? So yea...

Any lifter from I THINK '94+ has been the same in all of GM's pushrod motors...just leave that Northstar junk alone...

    what are your plans anyways?

negative ghost rider, ls engine is my world so i shall clarify. cable driven throttle bodies came on the 98-02 camaro/ trans am and possibly the early c5 vettes before 2000 but i dont think so. all other throttle bodies from the lm7, lq4/9, ls6, ls2 or for simpler terms; 4.8, 5.3, 5.7 ls6, 6.0 were all drive by wire. good news is that us ls guys love to get rid of our stock throttle bodies in favor of bigger 80, 85, 90, 92, 96, or 102 mm ones when we upgrade our intake manifolds. keep an eye on craigslist or on ls forums, my favorite and the one i have spent countless hours on is ls1tech.com. tons of ls parts and guys selling off their stock parts and ported throttle bodies.
