I have seen plenty of write ups on how to make Fenderwall intakes, but how do you make an open cone intake? I read a post where someone said "put a cone filter on the end of the MAF housing and call it good." is that the same thing as an open cone intake? REgardless, how do you make an Open cone Intake?

Yes, that is an open cone. But honestlopen cones suit supercharged cars better. If you're naturallyaspirated then yuo want cooler air so just make your own or spend a few hundo on an aftermarket setup.

    4" piping or bust

    One bend at thats it.

I wouldnt put it in the fender. too much water gets in there.

I just pulled out the air filter box and left the bottom "pan" in place. I attached a cone filter to the end of the stock [flexible] intake tube (pipe?). There is abut 1/2 inch lip where the stock airbox bolted to the end of the intake tube. That was plenty to attach the [cheap] cone filter. The flexible intake tube allows the filter to rest in the pan of the air filter box. Couldn't be any easier. Took all of 20 minutes. Inexpensive also, not too much more for a KN cone filter. I get a bit more intake sound, which I like.

the corrugated hose is one of the restrictive parts in the intake, get rid of it.

    K&N's suck.

Get a Spectre. Best filter I've had to date. Buy one and Autozone...and get the BIG one. Pretty sure they are $39.99. Like Canada man said...4" tubing...and you want the filter to rest close to the hole in the fender...not really IN IT.

I agree. I was just going the easiest and quickest route. Eventually, I will look into a better intake pipe. The cone filter I have is the Spectre from O'Reilly.
