    I don't have a resonator in my setup. I am considering it. But other times, I am not. I have had my exhaust done for over 2 years, and I still think about it from time to time. But the drone is nowhere close to the level I need a resonator. I think I am just getting old....

    But my advice is this. If you are just going to replace your mufflers, leave the resonator in. If you don't like the sound, then try to remove it and see how it sounds. But if you like it, leave it alone!

    If you are replacing the entire system, don't install a resonator. If you like it, leave it alone! If not, then try to install a resonator.

    But I do have a cat in my car which acts kinda like a resonator.....kinda

    The cat plays a big role in the sound of the exhaust believe it or not.

    I believe the Flowmasters to be louder, especially when it comes to drone. Since I've only had Borlas and Magnaflows, my opinion on Flows is strictly based on the many other threads on exhaust.

    Here's what I found started with FM's too loud pit in a cherrybomb for a res. not bad decided to go with MF's with the cherrybomb too quiet so I removed the res ,just right IMHO this is with a 3" to the Y then 2 1/2" to the muffs, depending on the sound your looking for I do'nt like the sound of the FM's on this setup also the tips effect the final sound .

    Put a Magnaflow on one side and a Flowmaster on the other..... lol!!! Just kidding. I wouldn't be able to deside myself. Like them both. Just heard more people talking more about Magnaflow and Borla for our cars.

    If you wanna be heard, just run open exhaust. We did almost that to a buddy's '04, and it sounds nice IMO! No cat, factory res, and no muffler. It's loud, but (surprisingly) not too bad at cruising.

    Amen to that.

    Our V6 engines just do not sound good with a loud exhaust. Well, again, exhaust is all a matter of opinion. But in my opinion, they do not sound good loud. It will cackle, have drone, and just sound like ****.

    From the grand prixs that I have heard, flowmaster sounded the worst. Magnaflow sounds okay. Borla I liked the best. Again...just my opinion. To decide for yourself, you really need to hear them first.

    On the drone issue, you can barely hear my exhaust on the highway. It's weird. I thought there used to be some drone, but you can't even tell the exhaust is there anymore unless I turn the music off (on the highway, that is). You can feel it through the shifter and steering wheel, more than anything. I don't know if exhaust parts break in over a year or so (had the exhaust a little over two) but I think highway driving has gotten quieter.

    City driving is different. With the windows down it sounds just delicious.

    Note, my setup is currently:

    stock manis->ZZP DP->custom 2.5" catback->Magnaflow XL 3-chamber perforated mufflers->3" tips

    No resonator.
