    Hi,

I am new to Grandprix forums, I own a 2000 Grand Prix GT and had a question.

When I get to about 60, the rpm's are at 2000. When I get to about 73, they are at 24-2600. This seems a little high to me. My mom has an 05 impala and same engine and runs about 2000 at 73. My cousin has a 02 monte carlo and it runs 2050 at 73( I asked him to try for me) I don't get horrible gas milage but it seems down a little. about 24 mpg vs 27 for my mom and 28 for my cousin.

Any advice would be really nice. I also don't know a whole lot about specific car parts so please bear with me

to me that does not seem to be too bad, your car has 3.29 gears so higher rpms at the speed sound right.

Just drive at 65 ish to get best gas milage.

My 01' GT is like that also....But sometimes it drops down to around 2100 where I would like it to be....But I can't seem to make it do that, even if i try

Just stumbled across this thread and saw your location. Is that Montague, MA? We're almost neighbors if so. As far as the question, I've had a GT and GTP. I agree with everybody here. The gearing is different in the GT causing the RPM's to be higher on the highway.

Sorry I work on my car at 10 at night (with air guns). Didn't know it mattered when you live 10+ miles away.

Yep, I'd say 25 minutes away is pretty close. There doesn't seem to be many people on here from MA. Even less from the western side of the state. BillBoost37 is pretty close to us too. He's just south of Enfield, CT and is a good guy.
