Hi everybody, this is my first post, as im kinda trying to decided what to do here. I have a 1997 Grand Prix se with that goofy front end on it, 150,000 miles, rusted out rocker panels, not much in the way of dings or scratches however. Now, I'm trying to decide whether or not to stick my money into it(only have a part time job at the moment). I was thinking body kit, rims, speakers, supercharger, dual exhaust, the fun stuff. Not sure if a $1,500 car at most is even worth the time or trouble to attempt to make it pretty, especially at 150,000 miles, any input?

it is over your head. do you see what youre talking about doing? none of that makes any sense to all of us who know these cars in and out. a body kit? really? $1500 wont begin to touch all of that stuff you want to do.

What your talking about doing is closer to 4 to 5K after its all said and done.. With a part time job I wouldnt want to invest that much money into a car period.

Uhm pretty sure the car is only worth $1500 if you can read, I have more than that to stick into it. A body kit with paint is $1500 at most, seeing as how I can do it myself. Rims I found used ones, speakers arent bad at all, $800 will get you a pretty sold in car system.

All we are saying is what are your long term plans if the car is already beat to **** why stick that much more money into it. What you quoted above is 2500, and you havent touched the motor or any "maintenance" on the vehicle. Just watching out for you.

its not worth sticking money into, get a 99+ GT or GTP if you want to make a nice car. and PLEASE dont put a body kit on it. these cars look great lowered with a nice set of wheels.

^ I agree. Put enough money into it to keep it in good mechanical shape and get something else down the road. I'd like to get a gtp as well after my gt.

I dont want a gtp, being 17 the insurance would kill me, besides, I want an aftermarket supercharger, only heard of problems with the stockers. The car isnt beat to ****, the miles were all put on by a friend of my families, shes older and drove around 20 miles to work on the highway each way, and I'm easy on the car. I found a body kit that completely replaced both bumper and rocker panels, it wasnt much lower hanging that stock either and it looked really bad ass, so the car still could be lowered. Its not like I cant save to afford a few parts at a time, plus I have another car to drive if this ones out of commission for awhile. Might do a complete rebuild(my dads a mechanic), just to help with my confidence in a 150k miles car.

Well, I'm looking for a project car, that I can keep til I'm old even, but still will look awesome going down the road, something that I can always find something to improve on, plus, I always can try to find a way to fit a chevy 350 small block in it with a six speed and make it rear wheel drive :P
