'99 Grand Prix GT - Dealer did recall - They needed to move some wires. Couple weeks after that problem started. Started out like the tranny was slipping then it started to surge when at idle. Then idle and while driving. Now, still suges during both plus if I push gas normal engine cuts out, release gas comes back, might even stall. I have to feather the peddel to move. Code: P0102 MSA & MAP. Replaced both worked fine for 2-3 weeks. Problem returned worst than before. Rechecked MAS and MAP all good. EGR replaced with in the last year also replaced idle sensor and air filter. I have the TPS but thats not the problem. Had dealer put it on Tech II and they said it was the MAS or MAP. I'm running out of ideas. Help!!!

MAS? You mean Mass Air Flow sensor right? If the MAF is the issue, unplug it and try driving that way. The first couple starts may be tough as the pcm learns and adjusts off the tables instead of real time data.

BTw, here's the FSM write up for P0102 http://gearchatter.com/viewtopic1176...b2c3086116db21

The MAF, MAP and Idle control sensor are new. I unpluged the MAF the first time and it did stable out but now I can unplug the MAF, MAP, TPS and Idle control with no effect. Still surges and blows P0102. When I installed the MAF and MAP the car ran OK for 2 or so weeks. But we noticed the MPG started to slowly go down. Also, I forgot to mention that the Track control went to "Track Off" and I am unable to turn it back on.

Could a problem like this be caused by bad gas? Because I just got gas today and my car (02 GT) developed the exact same symptoms and after probably 20km of driving just quit going up a big hill about 1km from my house. I did however get it restarted and made it home.
