hey, how is everyone? welli just wanted to see what others think about the SLP headers whether you have them or you dont, because i am thinking about getting them and taking out my ported ceramic coated manifolds...of course this is going to be after i get the HV3, ported HVTB and ER rockers

I favor SLP headers over any other brand for a number of reasons and have since they first came out. There were a few problems out of the first batch or two that shipped out but they have been resolved since. Just beware that adding headers to a NA car may cause you to notice a bit of low end torque loss during daily driving at lower throttle positions. The rear header can be a chore to install as the downpipe is integral with it. The quality is top notch and very high quality. Just make sure you get the install kit as it includes gasktes, 02 wire extension, clamps and a few bolts.

Make sure to replace the flex it comes with, it likes to tick and annoy the hell out of you. If you put the rear header on with the original flex and it ticks you'll most likely not want to uninstall and reinstall the rear header ever again. Other than that my slps have neve leaked and i installed them back in the day before i knew what KR was and all the other essentials.

If you did someday do a topswap, then headers would be a very good mod.

I had SLPs on my GT with ER rockers and other mods. It was alot of fun. Had the HVII on as well and the car was a highway screamer. Low end lacked with the HVII and headers. A stall and gears would have taken care of that problem though.

Hmm about a grand to 1,500 depending on the condiiton of the parts. But i've seen and from talking to other gtp owners that pace setters are the way to go or togs. But make sure you re use the stock gaskets or get new stock gaskets.

There is no point in re-using gaskets. They're what....6 bucks...not worth the PITA only to have a leak at the end of the day.
Cost effectiveness, pacesetters are a good compromise....IF you know what you need ahead of time.
TOG's and SLP's are still the cats meow in the header world, but they're $$$$$$$

True but the pace setters have a problem with a clamp that keeps comming loose a kid i know local to me had a set and had that happen 3 times

Very true and I wont argue that point. But also to consider is the cost of having to go in and fix the Pacesetter leaks you also referred to. Its a matter of what your time is worth and do you want the hassle of dealing with the leaks should they occur.

The original few batches of SLP headers had the noise issue on the flex piece because they coated the entire part. All of the newer ones arent coated from the flex back and that took care of the noise. I have installed several sets of early and late ones and the cure on the early ones was to wrap the flex in header wrap which took care of it. One thing to not also is other than the better fitment of the SLP headers, you can work around the transmission MUCH better than with TOGs or PaceSetter headers. Pacesetters are a crap design and I hate working around them, ESPECIALLY when the crossover pipes are welded on permenantly to rid the leak problem. Also on the Pacesetters the crossover pipe sits way too low and close to the trans and makes it difficult if not impossible to install a trans temp sensor for a gauges as the threaded end of the sendor will touch the crossover pipe. I wouldnt recommend those headers to anyone, but again price is always a concer and they are by far the cheapest. One other point of interest on the PaceSetters is that the holes dont line up with the heads properly. I discovered this on F-body 3800 headers and they only have 1.5" primary tubes. The center tube is close and the outer two are too far inwards and this leaves poor sealing area and poor port lineup. They must have used the F-body plates and just opened the holes up for the 1 3/4" tube but never corrected the location of the holes to the heads to make sure they line up. Even with over a 1/4" more room to allow for give in the lineup they are still off. This makes matching to ported heads difficult and can hurt exhaust flow. Again you get what you pay for, and I would never pay for those! I would rather wait to save more money up and get parts that fit proper without the headaches.

Yeah I have a full exhaust project planned next time around. I need to get the air flowing out before I start forcing lots in.
I had decided on the SLPs. I have heard a lot of good feedback on them.

see im the opposite, i have all the flow out...but not too much flowing in, that is why i have things planned for this spring thanks to synthetic helpin me out..
