Now that Im nearing the time to start the engine is there anything i should do? Maybe disconnect the ignition module and crank the engine for a few seconds to prime everything?

Did u wash down the lifter valley with motor oil, then change the oil?

I disconected the ignition harness and cranked mine over a few times, then the battery went dead

I ended up starting the car with jumper cables, first start

yeah change it before u start, you don't want to get coolant/oil mix going through your motor.

i believe that's it, IMO change the oil again after 1k miles.
