hello i got a 2001 gp gt i recently picked it up, i added some flowmasters muffs, got rid ofthe resonator. would it sound louder with the cat off or should i just go ahead and and a down pipe. some one told me to throw in a cherry bomb down by where the resonator was. would that do anything or not really thanks.

go on you tube and watch and listen to some clips on there, you will find about any set up you are lookin for, then when u find the tone/sound you are lookin for go with that setup. its really about personal opinion in sound.

it really is, you will have a few posts soon where you will get flammed for taking off the resonator, i think personally that it does not sound good, you will also have people say the stock exhaust is the best sounding, i think a set up with a Glasspack in place of the resonator and out to the two flowmasters would sound really good, i just have flowmasters hooked up and i think they sound pretty good by themselves, but the glasspack where the res would be i think might give it a little more of a rumble, but not much, from what i have read these engines were not made with good exhaust tone in mind.

    STUPID ****ING RESONATOR REMOVING.

Sorry, just had to "flame" you I guess.

Put in a glasspack...or have someone rev the car with you standing behind it. You'll see why. RASP. The glasspack gets rid of it. And, get a 3" catted downpipe. Only other exhaust mod you'll need is a front powerlogged manifold.

    Quit being a Debbie Downer

For a V6 they sound alright with the resonator still in and headers to give a low rumble IMO.

wow bio, a little 3.8 hate goin on? should be glad its pushrod power, all the overhead cam other engines have a damn 4 cylinder tone to them, i think the gm designers did a fantastic job, to think we can get the tone out of them like this. I think its funny when those nissans and other foreign ****s try to put exhausts on their cars, no rumble, just rice.

im just saying, there is no possible way of making these cars sound good exhaust wise. youre better off having a nice quiet exhaust so you can listen to the motor.

no you hatin its ok i kinda agree with you. even buick grand national is the bestest car GM made sounds like ass. i grew up around push rod v-8 motors and once you hear a cammed out v-8 ntohing compares. you need to get rid of the GP and just get a ls1 car already.

i kind of want to put a glasspack in place of my resonator with 2 bullet race mufflers in back. i think that would be good, because i really dont like the sound of the flowmasters

    Not Geo's

And for the glasspack comment...try getting the glasspack put in before getting rid of the flows...I loved mine all over again after putting in the stock res.
