    Hey guys

Time to fix the AC. Bought the car 3 months ago. About a month ago I tried to rescharge the system (totally out), and it leaked out in about a week. Took it to a shop for testing and was told it was the condensor. Replaced that and tried a recharge again.

All of the sudden the compressor started to spew greenish oil out. I know these things could leak, but that much? The color I added to the condensor was blue. Anyway I let it cool for a couple of hours and pulled the tire off so I could get a good view of what was going on, but the compressor will no longer kick on now. It still has freon in it to kick the compressor on.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Did you have the system evacuated after you replaced the condensor? You have to get the air out. Also, do you know you added the right amount of R-134a?

AC is one of those things that most of us DIYers will take somewhere. Too much specialized equipment involved.

Didn't get it evacuated after the condensor. I could not find anything about doing that when changing the condensor. I know I will if I change the compressor. Your right about AC's - you need equipment.

One other thing is when a condensor is changed you need to add 1 oz of oil to it. There is no way to do that unless there is some equipment mechanics use. I was able to add maybe a quarter oz, I then put a small amount in the condensor hose by removing the hose on the back of the compressor.

I'm thinking this might have overloaded the compressor with too much oil. I'm wondering if this could have fried the compressor???????

Any time you open the system, you need to evacuate it. With all of the air in there plus whatever you added for oil and 134a, I suppose it could have screwed up the compressor, it's hard to say.
