Thread: What is the easiest way to pull a Motor???

My 97 has blown heads. I've bought another motor to put in while I do repairs to the original motor. How is the easiest way to pull the motor??? I've generally pulled motors out the top with an engine hoist put someone suggested that I jack up the car as High as I can and drop the front end motor, tranny, and all out the bottom. I just don't think My jack stands will get that high.

Pull it from the top. You'll get well acclimated with the ***** bolt but its the best way

Cut it out with a torch...buddy went to buy a motor and the guy asked him if he wanted to hear it running...he didn't care since he was going to build it so he declined...we got there and it was cut out CV Shafts and all LOL

LOL ***** bolt... I left mine sitting on the toolbox...

if you get randy you can just put a ratchet on it and hit it from the front of the motor instead of doing the multi-extension thing from the passenger wheel well. youll need to have the rear valve cover off to do it. it is WAY easier if you just straight up take off the rear head.

I don't know what everyone complains about, I thought the so called ***** bolts was pretty simple with a few extensions.

The bolt that goes in from the passenger side between the trans and engine is known as the b itch bolt.

my ***** bolt story:

i already had half the top end of my motor off. i put a ratchet on the back side of the motor with the right socket onto the aforementioned bolt. i stood on the ratched and what i thought happened was that the ratchet fell off the bolt. i got a giant gash in my leg from the rear head. after going through the fender well with every extension i could find in the house i realized i had already broken the bolt loose and i could have just taken it out from where i was to begin with.

when i put it back in i put it in from the front and i didnt tighten it down very much. if it rattled its way out by now i could really care less.

Kinda hard to come from the driver's side when the transmission is in the way...
