i made it for $50. that flexible tubing was $20 at autozone, and the filter was $25. when that tubing is scrunched together its solid as hell so i just clamp the rubber fittings over that. it came with a rubber fitting to go over it so i slid that over the tube, and then put that into the tube that the IAT is in.
my only concern is that that tubing might not be wide enough. is 3 inches enough or should i have aimed for 4?

tubing is too small and pretty restrictive seeing as how it isnt a smooth inner pipe.
the best intake for you would be a 3" > 4" silicone coupler to a PVC pipe with a 22.5* bend with a straight piece getting it decently close to the fender. being completely in the fender gets the filter super dirty super fast. take off all the bendy tube stuff.

well thanks for the input guys, back to stock it is! for now.....
looks like ill be going to the store in search of a piece of 4 inch pvc pipe.
so do any of you have fenderwell intakes? if so how did you get 4 inch tube through there? or does most everyone have heavily shielded warm air intakes?

you have to put a rubber bend on it to fit into the fender decently, but the 90* bend to get into that is the restrictive part regardless of how cold the air is. just get it close to the fender and call it a day.

that is better. i would have bought a PVC bend instead of leaving the pipe in there cocked though.

i couldnt find any pvc bends 4 inches thick, i only checked one store though. i might check into that later on but it looking like that doesnt really bother me

now thats an idea! ill use that write up to modify mine for sure when i get some extra $$$ again
also, while im thinking about it, whats with that screen right at the throttle body? can i tear that out? it just looks like one more restriction....

It's the MAF screen. It's used to smooth the airflow as it crosses the MAF so it gets an accurate reading. Leave it in.Originally Posted by Jakegday
It's also your engine's last line of defense against debris going into the engine. For one of our turbo guys, that's what saved his engine when his turbo ate itself.

i dont have a MAF screen, but i have been trying to find someone to sell me a screen and clip so i can see if it makes any difference.

I took mine out almost a year ago when i put my cold air intake in. Then a few months later i put it back in for the same reason. I didnt' see any change at all so i took it back out. Personally, if something that big wants to get into the engine, a small aluminum screen isn't going to stop it. Besides if you have something that big getting past your filter you have bigger issues.

Do you have a stock TB?
Just wondering b/c if you don't I was told my MAF (LQ4)...if you take the screen off of it...they are supposed to flow nearly twice as much air...I took the screen off of my car when it was stock...not sure about the LQ4 thing...but I left mine on as a LS1 flows JUST FINE

i have a stock TB that i hogged out and ported on my own, no external MAF.
