Hey guys, I've been reading some of the exhaust threads and many of you seem to think that the Dynomax Turbo mufflers sound best on a 3800 but I have also heard they are on the quiet side.

So my question for people who have these on their Grand Prix is: are they loud enough to make it worth my time replacing the stock mufflers and are you happy with the exhaust note?

I'm interested in this as well. Unlike my truck I want this car to sound good and not be just loud.

super turbos on a truck should be loud enough for you. you dont want to go with the ultra flos because those are a straight through muffler. very loud. only way i would put those on a gp is if u were using stock piping and stock downpipe. I have a 3" dp along with some engine mods that make the exhaust louder and im gonna stick with the super turbos if i stay with stock piping or if i upgrade 2.5". The super turbos will be good if you need to keep some backpressure in the system

i had super turbos, once i put in the catless downpipe the car got wayyy louder. im now back to stock mufflers with the TOG's and catless downpipe and i like it much much better. i also have a resonator. it depends on what you like the 3800 has a ****ty firing order so it will sound like crap with an open exhaust, i got tired of hearing the drone so i went back to stock mufflers

Heh...I had straight piped exhaust for a long time after my cam build...with the good 'ol Raspmasters, Pacesetters and 3" Piping...sounded REALLY sh**ty...

Keep the resonator...before even asking if you should take it out

so some super turbo dynomax mufflers with the stock or aftermarket resonator with a 3" down pipe should be decently loud but still sound good?

i really dont see super turbos being that much louder over stock with a 3" DP and a resonater. Even if it is louder, isnt that kinda what ya want? it would be stupid to get something the same loudness as the stock muffler with just a deep tone to it

I didn't get the mufflers put on today the muffler shop quoted me $250.... I'm pretty sure they tried to rip me off. So I now have another question how much should it really cost?

the only mod I have is the K&N intake kit and no the worst part is I bought the mufflers from my local auto parts store and I was ecstatic because they only cost me $52 all together and then the muffler shop quoted me $250 for labor

Ok so I went to another muffler shop today and got my mufflers installed for a much more reasonable price of $120. I forgot to mention that I ended up going with the Thrush Turbo mufflers. They sound excellent during city driving with a nice deep tone. They are a little on the quiet side but are loud enough that they can clearly be heard in the cabin. As for under acceleration, I can't offer a review since I can't hear them over my intake
Oh and they hardly crackle at all when the engine is revved as opposed to the stock mufflers.

The type of muffler has NOTHING to do with what mods you have.

A buddy of mine put those on his '97 GTP and they sound pretty good. Then he took out the resonator and that was the end of that

Good deal on finding a better price. Now you can spend that money on other mods
