Hey guys, Im slightly concerned about this sound that's been coming from the engine bay while im accelerating , usually just after start-up when Im leaving my house to go to class, work, etc. Doesn't seem to matter what the temperature is outside nor whether or not I have the HVAC system on. It's a sloshing type of sound, like coolant or something but there is a definite difference in the way the car acts and drives when it is making this noise. It seems to be coming from somewhere around the firewall area, or somewhere near the cabin of the car because it drowns out the sound of the engine. It's almost as if this sound is holding the car back, and as I accelerate the sloshing sound speeds up as well until finally the transmission upshifts. If that makes any sense... It seems to go away after the car has gotten up to normal operating temp, so i dunno.... I have heard a few guys mention something about this before, something about coolant moving through the heater core after startup and that it's just normal, but there is nothing normal feeling about this. What also bothers me is that Ive heard there's a TSB out there for 04+ GPs stating that some customers have had issues with oil pressure or oil pump or something and not enough oil getting to the bottom end of the engine, causing catastrophic problems! Ive already taken it to the dealership and addressed the issue of water getting into the floorboard through the passenger in cabin air filtration system area. Only after it got water into the in cabin air filter, rotted it out, and shorted out the blower motor not even 5 months after I bought the car. So i m wondering if the sloshing sound im hearing is just remnants of water that has pooled up after they "fixed" the problem. I have also been hearing a ticking sound coming from my engine for a few months now, and you can hear it just after start up when you're standing 20 feet away, its pretty noticeable. At first I had just written it off as an exhaust leak but now im starting to wonder if I have a collapsed lifter and if this sloshing sound is somehow related to oil pressure or lack thereof....But this is yet another sound that goes away after the car has reached normal operating temp. Sorry for the lengthy post, TIA for any help!!!

Your system is low on coolant. Sloshing is the coolant and air in the heater core. When the car is cool you should check the radiator level. It should be all the way up to the cap. Don't rely on the level in the overflow bottle to tell you squat about your coolant level.

Add some as necessary, then bleed the system. Go for a drive, let the car cool, and do it again. Shouldn't take more than twice, if that.

Hey Sabre, can't thank you enough for all your help man! as usual. Anyway, took it to the dealership today and they claimed they couldn't replicate the problem but it started doing it again as soon as I drove off the lot. But they said the coolant was a little low and to check it again in a few days and possibly bleed the air out again.

most def sounds like low coolant and you probably have air bubbles in the system somewhere, drive and check it a few times
