Hi there, I just bought a 05 grand prix, happy with it so far I just was wondering what position the needle should be at when it gets up to temprature? It went up to a little over half way when I was idling waiting in line at the car wash, although I was on the highway before that and it never got that hot. Is it normal for it to get that high? It started to cool down before I shut it off at the carwash so I wasn't too worried about it but I am just paranoid I guess

When you're sitting still it's normal for it to get hot (since no air is moving through the radiator). Eventually the fans will kick on and cool it down.

On the highway will make your car run the coolest because of all the air it has access to.

Ah yes I wasn't too worried about it, Just seemed odd. Do these cars have electric fans? The reason I find this odd is because my truck always got up to temprature and stayed there no matter the driving conditions... but that would make sense because it had motor driven fans.

Kinda hard to have a motor driven fan behind the radiator when the engine is turned sideways.

    Yes, they're electric.
