Hey gang. I have a p0455 code that's been lingering awhile. I removed the purge valve and tested it with a battery and it emmitted a loud audible clicking noise, I suspect that it's a good one?? I checked the vent valve and the noise was pretty faint and I didn't see the spring depress. It's running awful, it misses and when I'm at a constant speed itl surge, the rpms will jump up and down consistently a good two times a second. That's my only code. I did check over all the lines from the tank and seem pretty good, no rust. I was to blow thru the hose on the vent valve freely.
One thing tho, is that I can move the vacum line on the surge valve a lil. In and out I mean. I'm lost here guys, any help would be great.

Could plugs cause this?? My lim was leaking for awhile before I changed it, but it overheated my plugs and made them white like the Haynes manual shows. Wondering if that could be the culprit. Probably doesn't help, and I replaced the gas cap as well.

Plugs turn white from burning coolant or running extremely lean, not from over heating an engine.

My guess is one of the big tubes leading to the intake for the EVAP is broken or cracked.

The bigger line your speaking of, is that one going to the purge valve?

What do you think about removing the metal lines from the filler neck and replacing them with rubber lines? Just want rule everything out

you got a large evap leak. it could be the gas filler neck tubes. the little one is a vent yo yhe gas tank and likes to rust out.

smoke test would find this. even if its else where. that evap line under the hood, runs all the way to gas tank area. canister tank lines could all be leaking too.

Hi all. I got the P0455 and the "Check gas cap" warning on my '07 GP 3.8L. Changed my gas cap and mechanic did a smoke test and found no leak. If no leak, how else could I be getting that message? Thanks!

Thanks! I ended up solving the problem a different way: selling the car to a GM mechanic.
