bad gas mileage down tp 16mpg on the high way. mechanic says oxygen sensor reads low. could it be the computer??? runs great, new plugs just terrible gas mileage anybody had this problem on there 3.4 motor?

I'd replace the o2 sensor if you havent yet, perhaps the mechanic is correct.
It's not a computer issue, you'd have way more issue if the pcm itself was bad.
