Okay - not a grand prix, but a 3400 in an '02 Montana. How the heck do you change the thermostat in this motor?

You start by swearing, then you swear about it being in a swearing van and you continue swearing and cursing for a couple of hours.
Hopefully by then you are done.
I usually try and take the heat shield off if I can get the bolts loose there is a little extra work but if you do that you may not have to take the bottom bolt all the way out some housings have a slot and not a hole. Makes it a little easier good luck it is just a junk set up
Thanks, guys. And Bill - I swear about this swearing van alot. I've never had a vehicle that was more difficult to work on, and I don't ever want one again. But, the wife wants one, and if she's not happy, no one is happy. So, she's currently driving around in a 10 year old van with 160,000 on it that has no A/C, and I believe a stuck open thermostat. It's about 12 degrees here at night right now, and she's got no heat because this thing is SUCH a PITA...
You could partially vice grip one of the hoses to slow coolant flow..lol Then when the motor blows..be rid of it.
