alright guys im new to this forum and just recently my 1996 grand prix 3.1 V6 is acting up on me, when i wanna accelerate it boggs really bad and people start passing me because it goes so slow and sounds like its running on less then 6 cylinders. and then all the sudden only SOMETIMES it will kick in and and go like normal. but 95% of the time it is bogging/hesitating on me and i can hear my valves ticking louder then usual, and its just not running right at all. any help would be appreciated it.

well without knowing the history on it, I would start with a tune up. Plugs, plug wires, air filter, pcv valve, fuel filter, the works. There could be other problems, a fueling issue comes to mind. But Id start with a solid tune up and then go from there if it has not already been done.

Ahhh yeah, that would definitely cause some performance issues as well. Wouldnt that throw a code or something?

well the history basically it had the headgasket done last year, and just mechanical work to the suspension thats it. nothing else really. it was my fiance's parents car they gave it to me because they purchased a 06 gp gt, but yah, i dont think im going to put this much money into it so if anyone wants parts let me know i will sell cheap otherwise i will just scrap the car. i know the windows switch is worth around a $100, and i'll probably take stuff off thats worth something at least to get some money back. anyways let me know guys if you need anything.

you just want the knobs or the whole climate control unit? because for me to send you just the knobs its really not worth the money, as shipping will be more then the part alone, let me know thanks

I have a 2002 Grand Prix SE 3.1. It bogs out at 2500-3000 rpm(around 30mph). I changed the fuel filter, throttle control sensor, spark plugs and wires, and egr valve and it still does the same thing. Any idea?

My car has this problem. But only ever so often. Never thought about it being the catalyic converter. as ive had a full tune up on it done already. and the car has 209k on it and ive had it since 100k. not been any problems really until now so it makes me wonder if its just age
