2000 GP SE-3100-When driving temp gauge doesn't move or barely moves--sitting @ idle for 15 min or more gauge rises up to 210 and low coolant light flashes-coolant is dirty but full-need advice

The low coolant light on my 95 has stayed on since the day I got it, even after flushing and filling it still stayed on. Does anyone know where the sensor is located?

If its the same as my 96 its on the left when ur lookin at it from the top. Its down about 3-5 inches from the top corner. Its about a 1.5" x 1.5" gray square. About 1/2" thick. I just replaced mine but my light still never shuts off. And its full. Let me kno if this helped man.

I found it and replaced the sensor with a junkyard replacement but the light still stayed on until I unplugged the sensor, now the lights off, job done.

Agreed with sensor, and temp gauge. That happened in my 94 SE.

I have a '95 SE and the low coolant light came on for the first time in 2007. It stays on for the most part, but every once in awhile it's off for a few minutes.... Glad to know I'm not the only one

I wonder if this helps. There is a special fill procedure for Grand Prixs. Well most that I know of anyway. Look it up in the manual. Mine comes on every here and there but I also have a coolant leak at my drain plug. I think it is just loose. My fabs weren't coming on so I ran a wire to the battery and they came on. So I checked fuses and relays and they were all fine. Must be a sensor but I just installed a toggle switch for the hell of it. I also heard you can find the coolant fill procedure somewhere on this website but I don't know if that is true or not. (:

I've had a '95 3100 and a 2000 9800 + a close friend had a 98 3800, all 3 of these had a low coolant light on nearly all the time. I drive alot sometimes over 1000 per week so I have a habit of watching temp gage as well as light. I've noticed on both of mine the light goes off when the temp goes over 180 like on hot day or intown driving but when temp is normal 180 or below it stays on most of the time. I also found that in the 95 if i used 50/50 mix coolant that you mix with water, it kept the light off most of the time but with the premix it stayed on. I've come to the conclusion it is just another GrandPrix anomaly that is irritating at worst. You'll find on other forums there is also threads on the same subject but never a cure or cause.

Basically the same thing on my 02, I'll drive around and it will come on, then go off. When I idle at a light the temp gauge will steady climb and even go a little over 210 and as soon as I drive it will go down. I watch it like a hawk I don't want it to overheat or something.
