I currently have a 2000 model Buick Regal GS with a 1998 model GS drive train. The trans is taking a dump after 3 years of being modded. I found a 2004 Monte Carlo SS trans with 27k miles for $200 with a guarantee and 30 day warranty. The numbers on the SS trans are 24220310. Would it work with my setup? Thanks in advance.

I don't think so. IIRC, 2003 is the last year that would work. (without internal modifications)

What are the letters/numbers on the ID tag of the donor trans?

    2003 is a funky year, for ease..replace 03's with only 03's
04-08 is different enough that you can't easily put it into 97-02 cars.

You'd be best to stick to a 98-02 trans.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

You can run an 03+ trans in your car if you replace your ECU with an 03 Regal GS ECU / Code.

    Bill,

On my 99 Regal I had no issues. The BCM played nice, no issues with the passlock system as well. I drover that car for ~6 years with no problems, and sold it to a buddy that's still driving it.
