ok everyone, I'm experiencing another problem now, I've got everything back together, the only thing left is to put the wheels on, however, I have no steering, I have no idea what happened, I assume I screwed something up when I dropped the cradle. Has anyone else experienced this problem, or what would be the likely cause.
No steering? What do you mean? No movement at all? Move the steering wheel, but wheels don't move? No power steering?

Well the obvious would be is the steering linkage hooked up to the rack and pinion. Then there's the lower rack mounts, and the tie rods. Make sure nothing broke.
Well, after dropping the cradle again, I found the problem, there is a rod coming out of the steering column that slides on to the steering linkage that came unhooked, my question now is, does it matter how much I've played with the steering wheel. As long as I get the wheel strait it shouldn't be too far out of wack, should it?
That linkage shouldn't come off unless you remove the bolt or roll pin. And I think the steering wheel needs to be in the correct revolution
I'm not sure why it came apart but I got it all back together and seems to be doing just fine. The wheels are finally back on and it moves, I haven't been able to thoroughly test it yet. I need a couple more quarts of transmission fluid. Also the Air bag light is on now, there was a warning tag on the boot saying that moving the steering wheel with it disconnected could cause problems with the air bag. I'm not sure what could have been damaged other than maybe the harness in the column, also I need to adjust the linkage I believe. It seems to work when it wants.
The clock spring in the column gets messed up I believe. It carries the circuit so the wheel can turn, but only so far. When you dropped the subframe, either that linkage, or the bolts to the frame had to be disconnected. Either won't really come apart on its own. Unless the bolt/pin was left out last time.
I really don't understand how it came apart, I've never removed anything from it before, but that doesn't mean someone else hasn't lol. I know it seems fine as it is now I don't think it could possibly come apart while driving. For the airbag, what would I need to replace? The clock spring itself perhaps?
ok, well I finally made time to test drive the car. The transmission shifts great as it should, no issues at all. I'm still working out a few bugs here and there. The linkage is messed up a little, I guess there was a clip that held it to the bracket so it doesn't move around, well that clip won't hold it anymore, I tried putting it back on but no luck, it will not hold it. I've tried a few other things and nothing seems to work. Also I'm leaking transmission fluid... SUCKS ASS. lol. I think it may a few possible things causing the leak, one could be the gasket, It was in fair shape but did have one small rip, but it isn't leaking anywhere near the where the rip was so I don't think that is the problem, I did clean and the mating surface before re-installing. I didn't do an extremely thorough job though, just a quick once over. Two I think could possibly be the bolts I used to replaced the old broken ones. They are just a hair shorter than the old ones. They are the same thread and all but just a bit shorter, you wouldn't know they were shorter unless you put them next to each other, but they did tighten up just fine. Last one of the screws was cross threaded, not by me, it was like that when I pulled it out, the threads came out with it. When I put it back together there did seem to be some bite to it so I didn't worry about it too much and I used thread locker on it. So I'm not sure what exactly the cause it. I just hope I don't have to take it all apart again to put a new gasket on, lol.
Hello all. I just wanted to share a quick update. I recently took the car apart once again to attempt to fix the leak and address my continuing shifting issues. I used a fix a thread kit to fix a cross threaded hole, and I used some gasket maker around the area that was leaking. I also replaced the TCC solenoid for the second time, and cleaned up the mating surfaces a little better. I drove it in to town the following day with absolutely no issues. No leaks, no shifting issues, no check engine lights, no issues what so ever, I even got it lined up almost perfect just by eye sight. The following day I drove it about 25 miles out of town and back with no issues. I noticed a slight thud under the car when I was almost home. Yesterday I took my father to a meeting and the thud got slightly worse and there was a very slight vibration on the interstate and my check engine light came back on and it was shifting a little funny. I took it and had it tested... torque converter clutch stuck open.. or what ever the code is. Well I cleared the code and have not had a problem since. I've put about 100 miles on the car today on and off the interstate and absolutly no issues. Still hearing the thud and I will investigate further tomorrow.
Also I'm having radio issues. I put a new pioneer radio in about a week ago and It works intermittently. When I first put it in it worked with no issue, eventually it stopped working and I wasn't sure why. Then I pulled into a car wash one day and the radio started playing? When I left the car wash it stopped.. I realized that it was only working when my headlights where on. So for the rest of the day I would just turn on the headlights and had no issue. The next day I had no radio at all. Then I unhooked the battery for a few hours and I had radio again.. as long as the light were on, until the next day then no radio again. So if I unhook the battery for a few minuets it works for the day. After it sits over night, I have no more radio until I unhook the battery again. Any idea what may cause this to happen?
ok guys, I need some help here. I'm still having shifting issues. The last time I took it apart and put it back together It ran great for 2 days then started acting up like just like before. I will admit, I used a jug to save my old transmission fluid and when I pored it back in it was brown and runny.. I'm out of a job right now so I didn't have the money to buy new transmission fluid. The jug I used was brand new, new, never used. Not sure why it came out that color. I know that was bad for it but I've added about a quart of new transmission fluid plus about a fifth of a quart of lucas transmission stabilizer. I've changed the solenoid twice myself and have had it apart a total of times. Also I've been using Dex/merc instead of Dex6 which I know is also bad. If I take it apart again, I will flush it and change the filter. If I reset the CEL it shift great for about 5 minuets. What should I do? Thanks for all the help in advance!
Sounds like the trans is done are you getting codes? which ones are they? also if it calls for dex6 and your using anything other then that sorry to say but the trans is prob now done
First of all scooter, I've listed the code previously in this forum... the only thing I'm getting it TCC code. Second most people recommend using DEX3 in one of these trans if it has seen a lot of miles.. which I believe can be found in Dex/Merc.. which is what I have been using.. until I did a filter change recently and I filled it all up with Dex6. Last my tranny if doing pretty fair right now... haven't had a whole lot of problems lately.. my bucking has stopped, and I'm only seeing minor issues at around 25 mph and that's about it. I do plan to rebuild my transmission when the funds become available.
