It's a different transmission. The valve body and electronics are different, as well as the final drive ratio. In order to use it I believe the channel plate and differential would need to be swapped.

at most you would have to swap out the differential, bolt on your older style external range switch and move a few pins on the trans connector

since you have to pull the tranny out anyway to swap them, why not just take a stab at rebuilding your own yourself?....that is if you were going to do the swap yourself.

i did a swap once putting a 2000 with 106k into the one with 180k. the 106 lasted only a few months and that was from a car where the history was known.

point is, you're not going to know what you are getting--even if you know the car's history (which you won't from pick in pull). these things pretty much are guaranteed to break. its kind of a hassle finding the right transmission for the right years, etc. and once you do all the work putting it in (which from the top with a cherry picker is not terribly difficult) you are basically just a) hoping you got one with a good rebuild already or b) just hoping for as much time as you can get before the replacement.

but rebuilding it yourself.....that is something i want to try if there is a next time. you get to learn a bunch of stuff doing it yourself.

Well what he didn't mention was what's wrong with the one in it now and how many miles is on it. Could be something common or possibly something rebuild worthy.

The trans is slipping in 1 and 2 under boost and 4th is out it feels like the torque convertor locks up but you give it throttle and it downs shifts to 3rd I was reading about the repining would that work on an 03 out of a bonnie or not is that only for the 03 regal / gtp trans. After I get some time I would like to go through the trans I have I just need to get a trans and put it in so I can drive it. The car is my daily . and as far as on barrowed time it was working ok till I installed a new fuel pump and it started putting full power to the ground two weeks ago this last week it started having these issues. As far as the lines are concerned could I just swap them off the newer car to mine or just use the fittings.
