I cant believe it was installed for $1100, unless you have friends or know someone there as I have heard of really low prices out of them that way which is fine and their decision, but otherwise I find it really hard to believe they can keep the lights on with selling it that cheap. Russ Moore trans in town would charge you at least in the $1800-$2200 range for that trans plus install labor and they are generally the rule-of-thumb price and usually a few hundred higher than the other local shops. I can tell you right now that I put $700 or more my cost in just parts into my rebuilds, EVERY one whether it be stock or modified. Nobody is going to only charge $400 labor to completely remove, teardown, clean, inspect, rebuild, and reinstall so you can see where the profit came from..... The price doesnt suprise me really but it makes you wonder what you got. The bottom line is this though, no matter what was replaced or not replaced THEY are the ones putting the warranty on the transmission and if it breaks then it is on them to repair it during the warranty period and make it right for the customer.

You likely got a much better deal than a walk in customer as they generally give car lots and auto repair shops a decent price break.

I called Summit trans today and they put in all new electronics and all wearable parts in their rebuild price. For a customer coming in off the street it is only $1400 for everything and it is a 2 year 24,000 warrenty.

Yes that includes everything. I dont know how they do it so cheap but he said that is Out in rebuild and out the door. So for anyone that lives near Ft. Wayne either see the Trannyman or Summit trans.

    My $0.02 on the matter.

If you want it to handle power such as racing it, have Dave build it both hands down. Not many shops I trust locally to build one with performance upgrades persionally.

If your not racing it, and just want your car to drive and show get you a low mileage used one from a salvage yard and install that. Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market or email Morad GTPED@msn.com. You can usually find a guy to swap out your transmission for $500.00 or less. Thats what I charge, and they know I wont f-stuff up while I do it LOL.

Just thought I would share some info about Summit Trans and these cars.... A local customer just called me about a transmission and said he just left Summit and they told him they wouldnt even touch his car and there is no way they could warranty it! It is a 99 GTP with minor bolt ons, rockers, pulley, downpipe and a tune, that is it. They said it was the fastest grand prix they had every been in lol. So they sent him down the road because they wouldnt help him out and couldnt warranty a 4T65E with that much power... It ran 13.8s btw.

They are talking about Summit Transmission in Fort Wayne, IN (they are a local tranny shop) not Summit Racing
