On our 2007 GXP, the transmission will not shift out of Park. The shift lever will move through all gear selectors, but trans is not engaging in any of the gears. The brake swicth is good and the interlock switch is good.
This model has the (mode) Manual Shift Auxiliary Position Switches on the steering wheel. Could these be bad? Maybe the linkage came off the shift lever?
I do not yet know if there are codes stored in the computer. I will check for codes this weekend.
I`m wondering if anyone has had this problem and what you did to fix it?

i would say linkage, but mine was oppisote of yours, i could shift at anytime wether the car was on or off. i would start at linkage make sure nothing is obstructing the shifter from moving.

I haven't paid attention to that specific part on mine, but it sounds like a linkage issue at the shifter or at the transmission.

pop the hood and on the drivers side of the tranny, follow the cable to the shift linkage, the cable end tends to break off.

Turns out it is a pin of some sort that fell out from the shifter linkage. I have not been under the car yet, nor actually seen what is broken/missing. The car was towed to my wife`s nephews house. Our nephew said that the pin is no longer available. You have to purchase the entire shifter cable. So he put a nut and bolt on it for now. He is bringing the car back to us today. I will get under there and see if this is going to work, or come up with a better fastener. Thanks for the suggestions guys.
