Just skimmed through the post....97 GT internals are not the same from a 2001, not sure if anyone ever answered that. Personal preference would be to rebuild what you have, others have different opinions on how to approach this. I have a decent amount of the specialty tools to do a lot of the trans stuff and I'm in Columbus.....and yes I've rebuilt a few.
    1999 GTP 2dr - Whipple 537whp.....for now
    1998 GTP 4dr - ST2, Cartuning PT61, IC - SOLD
    1999 GTP 2dr - SIX, GenV, Headers, TEP Trans, E85 - SOLD
    1997 GTP 4dr - 3.4, 1.9's, 3" DP, P-log - SOLD

Ok well I went thru many decisions of a rebuild or a junk yard transmission.. Well instead I got one off Craigslist from a fella who parts cars out then junks em.. More of a towing company but hey whatever pays his bills.. But anyways I got the trans for $140 with 60 days warranty.. Has 92k miles on it.. I'm doing the install Friday night after work.. Just curious about what I should look into while the trans is out.. I know a shift kit would be smart but I also heard the PCS would be a good idea.. What y'all think

Ok so.. 01 impala with 133k has the 3800.. Upon start up for like the first 30 seconds it's puttering like it's almost out of gas.. But then it straightens up and all is fine.. I get about 200-300 rpm flex during idle after the puttering is over.. I have not been able to get to a pressure gauge yet to check pressure but.. It's weird that I have no cels and the puttering issue stops after 30 seconds and I only have an issue after that when I'm in WOT.. ideas?
