Would like a little advise here, AT 60.000 miles I am not worried to much about having a power flush the fluid is not new but the car as never towed anything and its still clear redish pink.. ON my t bird I did a fluid only change every 30'000 myself by disconnecting the tranny line at the radiator and starting up on idle while adding new fluid for about 4 quarts then I would let it pump it down but not dry by letting the engine run at idle and catching the old fluid. Its been my experience that if the filter is plugged or really nasty then you usually have other issues with the tranny.. So The dealer only does a power flush.. I would like to know if any of you guys have ever done this buy disconnecting the tranny hose at the radiator ..or do you actually drop the pan which only gets approx. half the fluid anyway....I did have a problem with the t bird tranny but it was over 200,000. And the fluid was still crystal clear red so it was a freak thing that even the dealer got me covered because of the extended warranty I got..IF you read at the T bird forums many guys change their fluid using this method. I truly believe that keeping the tranny running cool is the key to longevity which of course means regular maintenance of the cooling system..
