For those of you following my learning curve of working on the 01 GT....I just installed a TransGo shift kit along with a fresh filter, Wal-Mart SuperTech Dexron III fluid, and a bottle of Lucas additive. Trans shifts like brand new, even at WOT.
Fast forward 2 weeks, I have to replace the axles. I lose about 3 cups of trans fluid when I pull the pass side axle, which I drain into a clear container. Holy skidmarks, Batman! That nice bright red translucent fluid is now as brown as 10W30.
I get that I only changed half of the fluid when I dropped the pan, but didn't expect the fluid to get that brown that fast, it only had 130 miles on it since the change. Should I change it again or don't worry about it? I was thinking maybe the Lucas additive maybe affecting the color? No burnt smell at all, but looking at color alone it says "change me".
