Hello friends. Wondered if someone could help me. My 99 GTP has always ran great. Like a small rocket. Never a problem with the tranny. It has 166,000 miles on it. Today I backed up out of a parking place, put the car in drive but it would not move forward. I put it in 1st gear and gently got it to go although if I gave it too much gas the car would shake from clutch slippage. I gently got it to 2nd then 3rd then Drive and made it home which was 20 miles away. I've never had a problem like this and the fact that it happened out of nowhere with no symptoms puzzles me. I hate to admit it but I have never changed the tranny fluid or filter. Do these symptoms mean that the tranny will need a total rebuild or is there another problem that can be fixed that won't cost me nearly $2000.00. I would rather by a good used transmission and install it myself it this means a total rebuild is in order. Also I have a Pick n Pull nearby where you can pull your own parts and save quite a bit. Is there any way to know maybe what vehicles also have the 4T65E transmission so I have more to choose from. I'm not quite sure where the ID info is on this puppy so that I don't waste my time pulling the wrong part out of the wrong vehicle. Any help would be great appreciated. Please excuse my stupidity for not changing the fluid or filter. No the fluid was not low.
