Complete rebuilt transmission including all new solenoids. Will not go into 1st gear, even when shifting manually. 2 to 3 and 4 works fine. Any suggestions before I pull this out again?

Info on the car. Year/motor. Did first ever work since the rebuild? Miles on it since it's been back in.
Was the trans rebuilt locally or by one of the known builders.
If those three gears are working, then the solenoids are fine.
Was this trans out of another vehicle. If so, does the cluster read the correct gear when you shift manually?
99 Buick Regal GS and first hasn't worked since the rebuild. Maybe five miles so far. Trans was rebuilt by local and it is a fully built trans. Most of the hard parts were changed out as there was a lot of galling. Typical bushing and clutches and the CT 3rd gear piston and Sonnax Boost Valve was added. Cluster reads 1st when put into first manually. It worked before the rebuild and it was rebuilt because third gear clutch was smoked bad.
Not sure who did the original build as the transmission came out of Florida and pretty sure it is the original transmission in car.
Reflashed the tune and that didn't help. Tried to command first gear in PCM and it wouldn't go. Going to see my transmission guy next I guess. Man I don't want to pull this tranny again.
Best thing I can tell you (and this comes from my person history) is the bolts won't fight and you'll be much faster than the last time.
If it worked when you pulled it and it didnt work when you got it installed odds are against it being a tune/shifter/anythingonthevehicle problem. Most likely a missplaced checkball, ripped gasket, wrong gasket, over-torqued/under-torqued bolt, wrong bolt in the wrong hole, etc....
Transmission is out, pulled the whole engine and trans last Saturday. I don't think its the afl valve, I had it warmed up enough that it should have worked. But you never know. If its not that then maybe the retainer for the 1-2 shift valve. Hopefully get into it this coming weekend.
It was the AFL valve. It was really stuck hard. I got it loose but it does not move freely at all and was really hard getting out. So this rebuild was everything but the valvebody. Guess I better take care of that now.
