Ok, so I have a 98 gp gtp and my tcc selenoid is stuck on and i do not have the money to fix it right now. I was told to go from reverse to ddrive until it comes unstuck. Then they told me to unplug the fuse for the tcc so it won't engage. All they said the worst thong could happen is worse millage on the expressway. I have tried this for a little while and I didnt work. Is there anything else I can do to help it get unstuck without taking the transmission pan off. Please and thank you!

The pan wouldnt come off the side cover would.

You can use a scanner to clear the code, it will likely come on soon after though.
A bottle of trans juice might help, lubegard is good, maybe a generic stop slip or treatment additive might help.

    Who is "they"

One person here I think pulled the wire out of the connector to kill power to the TCC and that helped him for a while.

I have the same issue going on. I heard many different "fixes" for this issue. Some people just assume their transmissions are shot and have them rebuilt. Others replace the sensors and they are good for awhile. Some people also get rid of them by running Seafoam or another additive. I'll probably try the Seafoam trick myself and see if it clears up the problem on my 180k trans.

Code I have: P0742 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Stuck On

I also have no overdrive and what feels like a somewhat shakey shift between 2-3.

Your lack of 4th is the splines on the 4th clutch hub being stripped out. In your case, i'd go in swap that hub and soleniod and be a happy camper with a good trans.

Looks like U and yellow in this info. That was for a bonneville though, so color might be different.
