Thanks, mine has 204k so it has had a good run too, I will just drive it until its completly gone, then get it fixed, hoping it will last until tax time ( gotta love being broke)
Need a little more advice. I plan on keeping the car for another year or two, but not forever. Should I spend the $1800 on TEP trans? I cant see spending that much money on a trans, since it would be worth more than half of the car especially if I dont plan on keeping it. Should I just hit up Ed Morad and get a jy trans and call it done? Or if anyone else has any other ideas, I would really appreciate it.
Check car-part.com for a trans. It'll list by area/distance to your zip code etc. I've found them for 200-300 with 6month unlimited mileage warranty before. Downside is ..labor isn't warrantied, but hey.. 200-300
If I went with a GT trans, I would get 3.29 gears and just have to swap in my hd axle, and diff cover, and get a tune right? Or did I miss something? Also, any trans from a 98 to a 00 will work too?
98-02 will work.
You may need to swap the prndl (2 13mm bolts, 1 15mm nut), HD diff cover, HD diff, HD output shaft (literally 2 13mm bolts by the time you get that far). Yes on 3.29's and programming.
Got all this stuff detailed out somewhere.. or can toss it up again when you are ready.
Which would be better to get. HD or non-hd. If you could post a link, I would appreciate it.
a link to what? www.car-part.com ?
Depends on what you want to do. If you want 3.29's then get a non-hd and swap parts. If you want stock gears, get an HD

I thought you were saying you had all this info somewhere else.
I misunderstood you.
