Got the trans out and tore down today. Second gear was spotted a little bit. It was a little soft feeling into 2nd with the power up on the E85 setup so im pretty sure that was when they got damaged. My 4th pack looks like brand new, its pretty much awesome, it shifts firm holds power well and they have no hot spots or coning at all. That setup is going back in unchanged. Everything else in the trans looks like brand new as expected. Just going to modify the feed holes a little bit, put a different boost valve in it, put a 7/8ths chain in it instead of my 15/16ths and put a 300M input in it.
Removed ALL the waved plates, replaced with extra clutches
Melted thrust washer, replaced this with a 4T60 roller bearing
This is the 4th stack up, what I did was took a one sided clutch and took a razor blade to it until there was no more friction surface on it. I tried to sand blast one but it coned really bad from sand blasting for some reason. After the friction material was all scraped off I used it as the end plate of the stack up with the friction side against the channel plate. Against the smooth steel side of the modified single sided clutch I used 4 single sided 4th plates equaling two normal clutch and steels. Against the metal back of the last single sided clutch I put a regular two sided friction. For the apply plate it gets a little sketchy, I tried 3 or 4 different setups and I cant remember which one it ended up with. It was either a regular thin 4t65e steel or a 4t60e with the tab modified to fit in the 4t65 channel plate, either way it was just a thin steel. Which ever gave me the clearance I was looking for.
