Ok my car has 94 thousand miles and I want to do the transmission filter and fluid. My question is I want the very best synthetic transmission fluid I can get. I had jiffy lube suck the old fluid out and put new in but I need piece of mind when I go WOT that I'm getting the best performance I can while eating some Honda's. Also what mods can I do to my car, its an automatic transmission? Also what's the best filter?

u can do the filter and fluid yourself its just very very messy. i went to checkers and got the most expensive one and did it. when u do do the filter be sure to use the stock gasket as the one that comes with the filter sucks ass. and depending on what u want to do with your car is depending on the mods recommended for u highly recommend reading the safely modding your 3800 before even remotely starting mods on your car.

I've already read that and I have done some general maintenance and mods. Like fuel filter and cone intake on TB. Im running full synthetic Pennzoil motor oil. I want the best synthetic transmission fluid, and am now looking for some transmission mods now.

from the factory these car came with Dexron 3 transmission fluid.

Stick with stock fluid and be happy, its the best for it. Buy about 8 bottles if your doing the change yourself.

I'd like synthetic so what works good in are cars. I hear dexron 6 is good my trans is in good shape I bought the car off of my Nana so she never beat on it like I do lol. She bought it new off the show room floor so I know it has been taken care of.

just run dex 3. thats what comes factory and is wat the trans is designed to run. synthetic fluids arent going to get you any faster than the guy beside u in the Honda running conventional.

    duude come on.....................reallly???????????????????? ???

I know you want to run the best on the market..................but I really dont wanna keep busting your balls over this.........But what i just said is the best fluid EVER made for your transmission. Old cars like old technology, and beside with the way fluid is made these days its even better than before.

Ok I'm done ranting, Im just speaking truth, and if you dont wanna run it fine. I dont care.

Alex.. what if we told you these transmissions don't do well with synthetic? I'm not saying that..but what if adding syn made it not work?

The best fluid you can currently use is Dex 6. with a pan drop and filter change you will only be able to swap about half of the fluid. Mod wise you could drop the drivetrain a bit and pull the side cover to swap the 4th clutch hub for a hardened one that would be better in the long run. Also you can put in a shift kit.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Finally some good information! I have read that Dex 6 is backwards compatible with dex 3. And to answer that question i wouldn't use synthetic if someone told me i would kill my trans. Dex 6 here i come now just to choose a brand

use dex 3. MY gt made over 260whp for 5 years on the stock trans using dex3 and lasted over 100 track pass's. I think yours will be fine. Hows that?

I'm with these guys with using dex 3 considering how many miles you have on the trans. You may get slippage with dex 6. Not saying it will happen but it could.

run dex 3 or 6, when I flush the GXP and my silverado im putting 6 in it. I rebuilt my 700R4 in my 88 Sierra I used 6 with no problems, but that was also a new trans with TCI clutches and a B&M shift kit so its not a stock rebuild by any means.
