Rather than type everything out i figured i would quote some of my stuff from clubgp for the people that cant read their anymore.

I recently installed a trans with a yank 3k stall, shift kit and 3.29 gears. I had a vac leak bad so i had not been driving it. After driving it today their are some messed up things. First the convertor is super loose like revs to 2800 and stays their. It also holds gears way longer than what seems to be normal. And the car seems to die when i let off. Did anyone have problems like these? Im running out of idea;s. Im going to take my scanmaster with me tommorow to watch the tps signal and all to see if its off causing the wierd shifts. It also down shifts under slight throttle changes. Supposedly the trans was changed the 3.29 gears from a zzp tune which should be right since its actually shifting. The car is starting to get on my nerves and need it to drive soon. Any help would be appreciated. Even trans settings in the tune that oculd be changed would help. I dont have a powertuner but im sure i can get my hands on one.

Just thought of something. The car acted similar when my maff was bad this summer. Any idea's with that. This is driving me nuts that i have a degree in auto and cant figure this **** out.
    next day
I put int he new maf and it fixed most of the problems. I just wish i didnt put a yank 3k in it now. Its so loose. What did you do to tune all that out? I can get my hands on a powertuner if it will help me. What torque convertor do you have?
Basically my issue is i put in a 3k stall from yank and a built trans with 3.29 gears and its just not shifting and all the way i think it should. The stall is super loose and im looking to see if their are any parameters i can change to make anything better. It drives much better in performance shift than in non perf. It will lock up much sooner in perf shift. Its running a base zzp file pretty much changed for the 3.29 gears and i need to change stuff. What do i do.

    Sorry for the weird start.

I never liked the zzp pcms. There are some tables that the power tuner does not have that hp tuners does

The problem with the Yank 3K stall is that it was a converter made for 4cyl engines, not torquey 3800s. It may stall 3K rpm in a sunfire or cobalt or whatever with a Quad engine but is going to stall much higher in any vehicle with more power and actuall vehicle weight. It was a cheap idea off of ebay a while back but since many people dont understand a converter rating or why it is important to have a page worth of info to send a converter company to make the stall correct, it just leaves people buying something with a meaningless number. Im sorry to hear you are having problems with your new setup but that converter is always going to feel really loose and I hope you installed a good external trans cooler or your fluid will cook in a short matter of time! There is a great deal of changes that can be made in the tune to make your car feel better, but I dont really think you will be happy with the looseness of that converter no matter what has been changed. I know its a lot of work to change the converter back out but dont try to tune around it to make the problems go away. If the really loose feeling doesnt bother you then by all means do some tuning or have someone local with a tuner help you out. This is where a lot of in-car drivability tuning will make a great deal of difference. Off the shelf pcms work good in general most of the time but in your case you need other changes to fit your specific car and driving conditions

I was afraid of the heat thing. I really wish i didnt by that damn thing now. Should have went zzp. Its making weird noises in that area and is going to a trans shop soon so it might be getting changed out for most likely a zzp 2750.

Dave any idea what it would cost to have a torque convertor changed? And what do you charge? I wish you were closer or the car would be their.
