this to me is a high up build, but to me all out is a bored over block running twin turbos, race gas, aluminum heads, and a whole lot more, i still want my engine to atleast be recognizable when im done.

This makes me laugh! Worried about the temp difference? Havn't you ever heard of copper or MLS Multi-layer gaskets? This wouldnt be an issue if you had any clue what your getting into! Oh and btw if you want to seriously run with the big names in the 3800 world and go big hp why dont you do some reasearch on them Alum heads!! Their far better than the best ported CNC iron heads you could get your hands on!
As for the guy that builds transmission? Does he build 4T65E-HD or any FWDs for that matter? Find a TEP trans and trust all of us that back up Triple Edge Performance Transmission and the man behind them! Hes done this for a very long time. Oh and what about all the upgraded parts that are needed for even a 400 whp transmission??
27k is an all inclusive thing? That statement is enough to make me cry laughing what is this an all inclusive resort? LFMAO can I have the # to this shop???
And for the last bit your going all backwards like blue suggested, suspension brakes transmission, THEN engine on top of a solid foundation, building a car is like building a house if the foundation isn't their why waste your time?
Like i said im experienced with cast iron block 350's with the stock cast iron heads, I have heard many horror stories of aluminum heads on cast iron blocks whether installed properly or not besides its still cheaper to go for ported stockers. and like i said earlier i want my engine to atleast resemble the stock, i know the kindof power that they can make but like i said im not going for an all out build. im on this forum for help and opinions not asshole remarks so stop posting useless comments, which is what that middle comment was. And just because the statement "all inclusive" to you means resort, does not mean that is the definition of the statement. If you would be a little less ignorant and realize that the statement meant that 27k was going to be the budget for the entire car. However, its much easier to just say all inclusive. Im not drag racing this car for competition either so no i really dont care if i run with the big names of 3800, this will be my weekend driver ill take it to the track now and then but im not gonna be drag racing it all the time.
Next my transmission builder is one of the most experienced in this part of Missouri, though that may or may not count for much, hes a friend of my family so im inclined to go with him, besides he backs up his work, if anything goes wrong he fixes it free of charge.
Lastly the engine and transmission will be installed at once thats why the two were not separated by commas in my last post. as for the suspension and brake comment ull notice that i put them in the right order.
Remember before you insult someone on a forum this is supposed to be helpful comments and insults are'nt helpful with what im trying to do
So you're telling me.... once you grenade it.... he'll replace it for free?
Because if thats the case I want one
Well he has in the past for me on one where a gear stripped out. And for another customer when the case basically blew out, though im not sure what the cause of it was. The point is he cares about his work and bad things happen. Ill definetly look into the TEP transmissions and if my transmission builder agrees i may wind up just having one built by them.
Confusing boat i love the GTO but to me the new one doesnt deserve its name. Me and my father have owned 4 of the 67's over the past 10 years and to me the new one just doesnt hold up to its name. All it is is a vauxhall manaro with a pontiac badge stuck on the side. Great performing car but i dont think ide like to own one. Besides i love the idea of having a car thats like no one elses
I live in Missouri...I'd like to know...I am pretty close to HUNDREDS of shops around here...got a name of the place? And if you want a car that no ones else has...I think you chose the wrong car...WBody's are a dime a dozen. Most of the fastest WBody's are in the midwest anyways...so I hope you can run faster than 12's.
I know it's the Monaro, but the G8 that we all know and love is a Holden Commodore (and the Vauxhall VXR8). Truth be told none of the best newer Pontiacs are true Pontiacs, so it's either accept the rebadged imports or sport a different brand.
If you want a Grand Prix unlike anyone else's I'd love to see someone do an AWD conversion. Maybe you can make my dream come true with your huge budget lol.

I'd do a buyanewcarwith27K swap.
I say 07-08. 06 had the LS1 vs the LS2 in the 07-08.
First off, welcome to the 3800 world.
Second, if you build v8's why are you dropping to a v6? Just curious about your choosing. You could buy a v8 almost pushing the numbers you want at stock.
I will say I'm fairly new to the 3800 myself but here is what i got...
I agree with everyone voting for the aluminum heads. Vastly superior to stock. Stock I'd say are good up until 300-350hp which is the farthest any of us go. I'm kinda confused about your whole outlook on this not being a full build and still wanting reliability(I'm guessing you just mean it's still street legal lol) so I just say go with whatever cam you feel comfortable with just do a little window shopping first and compare specs. LS1 TB would be ideal. E3 i've had no experience with myself but have heard autolite's are the best for our cars. I can't really speak for the turbo set-up but everything else looks solid to me.
Again, I'm newish to the scene myself. This is just everything I've read about, specifically through this forum.
GTO was only made for 3 years.
'04 was the LS1
'05-'06 was the LS2
As for the cost of aluminum heads...I'd NEVER buy them unless I was out of mods to buy. I had my stock ones totally done for less than a grand including the installation of all the springs/valves/retainers/guides...with the porting and polishing as well.
Beat you to it.
Sounds like a steaming pile of...
I'll believe it when I see it...27K in a WBody if spent right should be running with ZZP's 8 second drag car...or close to it.
INTENSE sponsored 8 Second FWD GP For Sale!
Up for sale is the former WORLD RECORD HOLDING 3800 series II powered front wheel drive Grand Prix. This car was hand built by Bob Cook and tuned by INTENSE Racing. It is a completely modified 1999 Grand Prix GT 2 door coupe that was donated by Morad Parts Company. This car redefined the front wheel drive 3800 V6 record books over the last few years.
Yet again people your failing to realize the 27k is also the interior, the sound system, the suspension, the brakes, wheels, sd body kit, paint job which ive given myself around 3 grand for in the planned budget, the engine itself i want around 10k maximum though ide prefer less. ITS NOT A DRAG CAR, its going to be a weekend driver the audio and interior will be around 4k combined, the suspensions about 2k the brakes another 2k, the exterior including paint body kit, lights and so on is about 7k by itself, the exhaust, headers and all will be around 1k, Yes it will have to be street legal, this build will probably take me the next 3 to 4 years but like my father always said plan early.
And the reason i worked on v8's is because like i said me and my father buy and sell cars, we buy a car, fix, restore, or modify it a bit, and sell it. The typical cars were usually late 60's or early 70's gm vehicles. So alot of the engines ive worked on were for cars ive sold. 1 or 2 were somwhat like father son builds for a car to take to drive ins and car gatherings, projects like one of the novas was or one of the chevelles. I personally have had other 3800's but i have yet to work on them short of spark plugs air intake and other forms of maintenance. Thats why im posting here. But i want to do this car right. Up til now all my builds have been to sell or for my father or his friends, but this car is for me and i want to do i right.
We're just questioning why you want to put money into making your car useless.
FWD really does suck as much as people say it does.
