anything to reduce heat on a tranny is a good thing. i ordered a hayden trans cooler from Triple Edge Performance - Home Page was like 50 bucks shipped... theres nicer ones out there like desert fox and a few others i cant remember the name of. with the hayden, its simple... bypass radiator cooling with rubber hoses they send u... however i had to go buy some more hose from autozone... really simple install.
Correct-rule of thumb is that for every 20 degrees you drop the tranny fluid temp, you double the life of the fluid (I don't buy that exactly) but the 4t65E's run real hot and are pretty crappy in stock form so anything that you can do do lower the tranny fluid temperature will greatly increase the longevity of the tranny. I would run the biggest GVW cooler that you can fit in the grille without running the tranny lines through the radiator at all. Long Double stack coolers (not traditional tube and fin which are not nearly as efficient) are about $60 for a 28,000 GVW cooler. Cheapest investment you can make in your transmission. All the GM w body cars should have them and if they did there would not be anywhere near the number of tranny failures-years of experience!
150* isnt that hot
150 is great!
