Your 99 GT has a 4T65E tranny in it. That should fit into a couple categories:
Not sure where it says it won't work for your car.APPLICATIONS:
- 1997- 2006 Grand Prix GTP
- 1998-2006 Grand Prix GT, GT1, GT2
- 1997-2004 Regal GS
- 1998-2004 Regal LS
- 1998-2005 Monte Carlo (3.8L)
- 1998-2005 Impala (3.8L)
- 1997-current cars with 4T65E transmission
- 1997-current cars with 4T65E-HD transmission
Edit:
But I must say that this same thing can be made for a whole lot less than $98. I think I did the equivalent shift kit for like $10. Spacers from Lowes and bought the springs from my GM dealer. Gasket I reused.
down a bit is says wont work on 4T65E transmissions i think its a typo.
but damn thats cheap lol, im not super inclined though. do you have a write up on how to do it? im still learning about transmissions and stuff
Changing that stuff is really easy. When you drop the transmission pan you'll see the accumilator house (I hope thats what its called) which has like 3 metal tubes going into it. There are a few bolts holding this on. You just unbolt it and then pull the pistons and such out and drop in the spacers.
Do you mean here:
Notice that the first note says it will not work with a 4T60 transmission, and the last note says it will work with a 4T65 transmission. 4T60 =/= 4T65.NOTES:
- This kit will NOT work in a 4T60 transmission. The trans is very similar to the 4T65E, but not close enough.
- Clutch life is improved because of the reduced shift time. Anytime you are between gears you are slipping the clutches until you reach the point where they lockup. This wears the clutches and generates heat. Less time on the shift = less clutch wear and heat buildup.
- The kit will also work with the standard version of the 4T65E. (Supercharged cars get a HD version.)
As for a writeup, check out the thread at CGP:
DIY Shift Kit
And also the PDF they mention there:
DIY Shift Kit & Filter/Fluid Change
Edit: And just noticed that you are from Reading. If you ever get to Central PA, stop at my place and I can show you how to do it.
might be worth the trip
so the tune pretty much does the shift kit?
