    GUYS

Keep in mind- I bought this 04 GT used and dont know any of the service schedule done by previous owner.

This upcoming Friday I am taking my 04 GT into the shop to have a few things looked at.
    - I find that when I am not on the peddal and coming up to a light or a stop, theres a groan?.?.?.? I pop the hood and let it idle and dont see or hear anything that would tip me off right away but it is definitely noticable when driving.
Solution- Service the transmission- Question- Should I service it or drop the pan? and what signs do I look for to distinquish between the two needs?
    AND
While he has the pan dropped, is there anything I can have him do to the tranny not so much as a mod, unless it is vesable, but to ensure that it runs smoothly?
I am pretty much following the post of "Safetly Modding my 3800" and working from top to bottom and want to make sure that if something is screwed, I know now rather than later. I still have 12 months on my warranty.
Is there anything else I should do while it is in on Friday? or do these simple maintance steps sound sufficient?

    Thanks
    Mike/ Fubisin

    Mike...

Most of the time from what I understand in the 4T65E series transmissions...a flush will only hurt the longevity of the transmission. IMO, I'd drop the pan, get a new filter...clean the pan with brake cleaner and wipe it out good with a towel you don't care about...then refill the loss fluid (IIRC 3-4 quarts) with Dexron SIX, not Dexron Four. If you are in there and you are confident with your mechanical skills...buy a Intense-Racing or Trans-Go shift kit...that will help the transmission shift quicker and last longer as it is keeping wear down...hope this helps you out.
