hey, im in the process of putting my new input shaft/gxp chains in.. (my input shaft broke)

and the sleeve that the input shaft sealing rings slides into is scored.... this trans only has 7k miles on it... how can this happen? does it need fixed? how can i fix it?

i have the channel plate off my old tranny, but that trans had 170k on it when it started slipping and died, so im not sure if i want to use my old channel plate

    any suggestions? help please!

    thanks

What kind of torque converter were you running?

Mine was like this also. That sleeve is pressed in. IF you send it to dave and he's not to busy i'm sure he will do it for you.

i got somebody who can probably do it at a trans shop locally. this is my only car so shipping stuff off is kinda out of the question right now

im running stock 258mm tq converter.

im wondering if this scoring was caused by my input shaft breaking? my old sleeve from my 170k mile tranny isent scored like this....

i just wanna make sure that whatever caused this problem is fixed. and im hoping this problem was caused by my broken input shaft (no fluid pushed through the tq converter?)

Typically when an input shaft breaks I see this happen, either that or the channel plate was not machined too well and the sleeve bore is not centered since you have very low mileage on it. I sell new sleeves and they have to be carefully pressed in or out and I also offer a service to do this if your local shop cant help you out.

im hoping its the latter of the 2.

my tranny guy thats helping me out is pressing in a new sleeve as we speak. he said id have to drop it off (takes him some time)

the scoring that corresponds to this on my input shaft is only halfway around my input shaft sealing rings, so i bet this happened when i snapped it (i was going WOT) and i had to roll it to a stop

i just wanted to make sure that this problem can be caused by a broken shaft, as to make sure nothing else is wrong. lol

besides that, my input shaft/chain install is going great so far. everything going very smoothly. aside from this little setback

i would imagine that if it was scored this badly i would have noticed some issues before the shaft snapped

but it was running great immediately before i snapped my shaft

BTW my broken shaft is a great souvineer, its a perfect cut! ppl would pay to have steel cut this clean. lol!

    thanks again for your help
