    Hi All,

My trans isnt healthy, the pump has a whine, its not shifting smoothly, and its sticking between gears. I plan to replace it in the near future and have come up with 4 options:

    1. Triple edge performance stage 1 High performance trans 2400 (+ shipping i assume)

    2. GM Reman trans from a dealer or similar comes with a warranty, 2k

    3. have a local trans shop do a rebuild for me

    4. This More Information for TRANSMISSION AUTHORITY T280490 A rock auto reman for 1200. I havent had the best luck with RA, but thats a heck of a deal. (and its warrantied)

I don't really want to do the rebuild myself. I live in an apartment, and I try my best to avoid trans work.

How long to plan on keeping the car? That right there would be my deciding factor on cost.

Are you going to do this swap yourself? Being in an apartment I doubt it but you may have access to a garage somewhere, I dunno.

My thought is this- if you plan on keeping the car for the longhaul and don't want to pay someone more than once to R&R my trans then I'd go with the TEP trans. Dave seems to stand behind his work. Shoot him an email and see what he recommends for you, it may be possible to save some cost depending on what options he builds it with.

If you just want to keep it running long enough to sell shortly then I'd go with the cheapest option that has the best warranty and be sure to sell it before the warranty expires that way the buyer doesn't get stuck with a nice car with a POS trans that was supposedly "rebuilt". Been down that road before and it sucks. Just my .02
