The torque converter has to be taken off the flywheel, if you take the converter off the trans you have to click it 3 times to seat it correctly on the shaft before you bolt it back to the engine.

Turbo is the way to go.

The torque converter has to seat on the input shaft of the transmission. It must be in there 3 "clunks" when installed.
You'd have a hell of a time trying to spin the torque converter off the transmission while it's still attached the flex plate. Also it wouldn't drop out if you left the engine in the car, not enough room.

i lifted the motor and trans out the top together i found that to be easier than dropping the cradle and pulling it out the bottom

The tc would be part of the trans..... the main question is why did you pull the motor, and what did you fck up?

its a long story but i will try and make it a fast story .. okay so i had a so called friend of mine that clamed to be a mechanic he knew some basics but he ****ed me over i had transmission fluid poring out of my driver side cv axel area and he told me some bs idont remember exactly what he said but we ended up pulling the trans and motor out the bottom the first time i let him go ahead and handle the transmission part as i did a cam upgrade i probley spent around 300 on parts he said i needed take in mind i had never done any mechanical work befor this point okay so fast forward i finish up the cam install (zzp vs cam) every thing went fine with that and he "finished the trans" so i thought put it all back together and filled with fluid and no movement he tells me its the fluid need to run threw or something like that so more fluid try again more fluid try again still nothing and theres a problem with the neutral safty switch so we lower the cradle and idk what he did but fixed the problem with ns switch but still no movment now at this point he starts becoming harder and harder to get ahold of and i sware he was breaking **** on purpose so i was getting pissed replacing one thing after another and i tripped out and beat his ass so i researched the trans for a week or 2 then pulled it out the top with motor i replaced 3erd and imput frictions and steels cuz he said he did 2nd and 4th i think actually befor i did that i just checked the check balls they were in the wrong spot and 4th didn't have the apply pressure plate or w/e its called put it back together and had movment but only if it was in 1 or 2 nothing in 3 or drive or reverse that's when i pulled it out the top and did 3erd and imput then i put it back together lowered it in and apparently didn't attach the tc right and now it makes a horrible noise when i turn it on after driving around the block once I'm not very happy with all this just typing about it makes me wanna crush dude scull in but that's were I'm at now stuck still and tired of messing with it i know I'm a dumb ass but dam i though i could trust the guy that was soppose to be my friend

Ill go out on a limb and say the pump got fcked from not seating the converter and having it bolted up. Take it to a shop and have the trans rebuilt. Then pull the vs cam out and replace with s1x

For disassembly, sure you could leave the TC on the flexplate. For reassembly, you would have to install the TC into the trans first.

The TC locks on to 3 splines shafts. Each one will allow the TC further into the transmission. 3 steps or clunks. It's a good "rule of thumb" but the best way to know it's all the way seated is to measure the distance from the bellhousing to the mounting tabs on the TC. IIRC, it should be right around an inch in.
Edit: I type too slow. Sounds like a pump problem.
If you want a real rebuild, take a drive about two hours south.

i have been under the assumption that getting it rebuilt is a toss up if u don't know the shop or person but after dealing with the so called friend kyle even knowing the person it was still anybodys guess how it would turn out i have been looking at getting a remanufactured trans and doing the install my self
