    wow, thats snapped off alright.

im not 100% sure but you may have to take the diff cover off to get that out.

or weld a long bolt to it and then use a slide hammer to pop it out.

i think i see the C clip in the diff there, pull that out and try a magnet, only thing that holds it in is the clip.

theres a chance the tranny is still good. a busted axle would make think somethings awful wrong for sure. last owner likely beat the tar out of it, only way i see that snapping.

you need a new axle anyways, so fish that one out, then slap the new one in, could save yourself a ton or r and r time.

If and when you get it out and replace the axle I would jack up the front and put the car in neutral and spin the wheels to see if they turn. Then try putting it in gear to see if the axle/trans even turns. Something may have locked up inside it causing that axle to snap like that.

I'm pretty sure if you take the differential cover off, the transmission fluid will leak out, just an fyi.

thanks for your help, I could finally get out. The previous owner was removing the transmission and lift from the oil pan i have to change anyway and gave me more room to work, with the help of washers it was easy .I can turn the wheel on the other side and turns free. also I turned to the differential and turns free too, I feel nothing stuck.

I need to put together everything that the previous owner removed and see how it works the transmission.

    Thank againg!

in the third picture the transmission was turning normal when the axle broke.if the transmission had been stuck. it would look broken to the right and not the left. or am I wrong?
