Does anyone know if there are any differences in rebuilding the tapshift trans versus a regular 4t65e-HD?
I'm looking to rebuild it and wondering if there is anything additional I need to know.
Thanks,
Andy

In general no, BUT you will need to get 4th friction plates that are referred to as "Internal and External One Sided Friction plates" and you will need two of each. This is special to all Volvo models and also the GM Tapshift transmissions. You will also need to order a new seperater plate from the dealer. These plates have bonded gaskets and the tapshift ones are unique. I never reuse the bonded plates as once the gasket has had an impression and been in service the gasket hardenes and wont properly seal so it needs to be replaced. The valve body and channel plate are unique to the tapshift transmissions also in case they need to be replaced. Otherwise it is the same as any other 4T65E internally aside gear ratio differences between models.
Thanks Dave, It looks like I'll be ordering pretty much everything from you. Do you have access to those additional parts that I will need? If so, do you have pricing on those parts.
Thanks again,
Andy
Just wanted to publicly thank Dave for all the help getting me the right parts and answering my probably 50 emails..haha I buttoned up the trans last weekend and it'll be installed next weekend. I wish all vendors treated customers this way.
