Will switching from single to dual exhaust on an 08 GP cause any problems with the engine? Maybe some back pressure issues? Thanks for any help.

Back pressure is a ricer myth. If 10,000 hp top fuel dragsters can run straight headers without a problem, then a dual exhaust wont hurt you
Thanks guys. I am just now getting into modding and all this advice helps so much. Even though they are pretty simple questions
I'm still alright switching to dual exhaust without anything else though right?
10,000 hp top fuel dragsters are also pushing a lot more exhaust than a 3800...
You need enough pressure in the pipes to keep velocity up, because as the gasses are leaving at a high velocity they're creating a vacuum behind them that helps pull the gasses farther upstream out better, which helps pull the gasses farther behind, etc
If the pipes are too big the gasses are going to slow down in some areas, while being faster in other areas, making turbulence and choppy flow which overall hurts the dynamics of the system.
And no, having a dual muffler cat back isnt going to hurt anything, some of them come factory that way, all you need is the pipe that splits after the cat.. I think it bolts into the cat end of the dp and then goes into the res and then splits right after the res.

Ya I've been talking with Morad out of Ohio and they have an exhaust from a comp g that they can cut for me right before the y-pipe and ship it to Illinois where I am. They would have to cut it a second time after cutting it by the y-pipe to ship it. I would just need to weld that back together and then cut my existing pipe where the dual exhaust is cut by the y-pipe. Then weld the dual exhaust onto my existing pipe where my single was cut off. Then swap out the rear valence panels and get a couple more rubber hangers for the mufflers and I'll be set.
Just went and looked under the car. I will also need the prongs for the rubber muffler hangers that are bolted to the bumper. Does anyone have a parts number of that part?
I have found the part on shopgmparts.com but now I have another question about it. Would the driver's side exhaust hanger be the left side of the car or the right? I am thinking it is the left side but I am not positive and would hate to order the wrong part.
When you take it to the exhaust shop, have them hang it.
They'll have hangers there.
If they don't, well...then you need a new exhaust shop LOL.
I'd also recommend some Dynomax Super Turbo/Borla/Corsa/SLP mufflers instead of the stock ones + some aftermarket tips.
The factory mufflers sound poopy.
I was thinking about new mufflers also. May be a little farther on down the road. It sucks being a student and getting into modding. definately some new tips though. Does the dual exhaust have a rubber hanger next to the y-pipe? While looking at my single exhaust I did not see any hangers around where the y-pipe would be. This seems odd so is there a hanger that needs to be there to hang dual exhaust or do I just need to get my eyes checked.
Just got my dual exhaust delivered today. Now I just have to wait until thansgiving until I go back home from school to do anything with it
