Currently installed is a 180 degree t-stat, 2 heat ranges colder plugs gapped at around .051", new plug wires, SD headers, 22.5 degree 3" pipe off TB to MAF then 9" spectre air filter.

I have 1.9 ratio mod rockers ready to go in, will be buying 105# springs and LSx retainers to go with them at the same time.

That's pretty much it. So now I'd like to get a tuned PCM to match my mods, but I want it to incorporate the fact that I'll be putting on a smaller pulley too. Here's what I'm undecided on. 3.5 or 3.4....?

There are no tuning shops around western KY to speak of, so I'm pretty much stuck with a canned tune.

Any input on pulley size is greatly appreciated.

    questions for you:

    - why do you have a colder thermostat and plugs? who said that would be a good idea?
    - why is your intake not 4"?

Colder plugs and tstat are in for when the pulley gets dropped, also recommended on the upgrading thread. I have a short 22.5 degree 3" bend on the TB because both the TB and the MAF are already 3", so the restriction is already there at the MAF.

youre just ruining your gas mileage having those items in there, especially the colder thermostat. put the stock one back in. you only need the colder plugs with more boost, but the thermostat is really an outdated technique that is no longer valid.

Thanks for the input, how about your opinion on the pulleys?

You think so with that mod list?? I thought I was being conservative with my estimate of a 3.5 pulley...

Anyone else agree with nascar's advice?

3.6 is the best you'll probably be able to do with headers.

I was talking about with the rockers getting installed with the springs. After I do that I'm looking at ending the modding with a pulley, so I just want to do it once.

Headers, rockers, plugs, intake... will that get me to where I was guessing with a genV?

    3.6" on a GenV is like a 3.4" on a GenIII...remember that.

Get a custom tune and a 3.6"...it'll be a totally different car.

    Thanks everyone for the input!

I always though it was just .1" larger was the equvilant of performance on a GenIII. Example: 3.5 on genV = 3.4 on genIII... So it actually more like 3.6=3.4??

ive heard rockers dont allow as much leeway with pullies as say a cam or IC. soo 3.6 should be your place

Right...Which is why a 3.2" will be great on a GenIII car with a cam or IC...and a 3.4" on yours...I had a big story about it I typed awhile ago...

If your stuck on a caned tune I say stick with 3.6... I am running a l32 with headers, 1.9 rr's and n* tb with lq4 , colder plugs and all that junk, and I saw up to 4* of knock on the top end when it was super cold out.

I plan on buying from Overkill when I get the money, I like the looks and the way he puts himself across, and I've heard lots of endorsements.

People also speak well of Intense tunes.

I actually like 180* thermostats because it helps to save the transmission.
