I haven't tried them out yet (only had it a day) but what is the advantage of having them or they just for fun? Are they difficult to use, I've never owned a manual transmission vehicle.

The purpose is so that you can keep both hands on the wheel when manually shifting. But yeah, basically for fun if you ask me.

Manumatic ftl, in my cousins volkswagen they don't shift when you press them it is all at the optimal time. I am not to sure about the GP's but most manumatics I have seen don't shift when you paddle and just do it when it thinks it is right and it won't let him downshift at a higher rpm lol.

I think they are the main cause of all the transmission failures you hear about from the GXP's. A few years back a couple of my buddies bought Dodge & Chrysler products,a 300m & an Intrepid to be exact,they both had the autostick feature and they had nothing but trans problems with both cars. Oh BTW they swore by their autosticks. As time went on I heard of & encounterd a lot more people with Dodge & Chrysler products with the autostick feature having trans problems. I can't say for certain they were abusing the feature but I do know my two buddies drove their cars like they were sticks.

When you put that much more electronic controlled stuff on a car, your bound to have problems. I don't see what's wrong with the old style. It worked for everyone for many of years.

i'm 99.9% sure i'll never use them, just for the fact that i don't want to screw up my transmission. just paid 1400 to replace the tranny on the Jeep I traded in for my GXP so i don't want to go through that again if i can help it. if it dramatically helped gas mileage or something i'd try to use it correctly but i doubt it does.

fwiw Ive also heard that TapShift itself doesn't make that much of a difference in shift time. Some guys have even complained that it doesn't always shift when you use the paddle shifters and you can't take advantage of all the RPMs in TapShift mode because it hesitates

U cant wait till the last second to shift. Just Like in a manual tranny u have to time the shifts. if u wait till is at read line you will "miss" the shift and loose time. Have to do it about 4-5mph before max MPH for that gear. But i have herd the Auto trans short shifts on the 2-3 shift. Shifts 200-300 before redline

I use them when I am enjoying a nice twisty road where I live. You can hold it in the gear you want and manipulate the thottle to be able to corner and come out of a coorner much better. Makes for great fun. This is my second GP with them and I have not had any problems. I do wish my heads up display had the rpms showing, because like the other poster said you need to know when to shift. Day to day driving doesn't do much since it really needs another gear.

they are a little slow on the shifts but i wouldent really flog it out in tapshift. its a tranny killer.
