I need to replace mine and I found some on ebay but it says that you have to have the dealer or a locksmith program them.

Try that and see if it works if not you may have to have a dealer program them
i think my owners manual had the instructions- and it was easy as i recall
if you want i can dig it up and look
x2 what carl said
do a search as threads that I have been in already have this info...shouldnt be too hard to find
I just had my FOBs reprogrammed a couple weeks ago. Basically a dealership has to do it, or possible a locksmith. But there are not many locksmiths who actually do it, so basically your back to option A. FYI it cost me $45, and it took them 30 minutes. Just for comparison pricing incase you do find a locksmith.
you can do it yourself and it isnt that hard. there is something like a seven step process to do it...you start by pulling a fuse. you can do the whole process in less than five minutes. basically a series of commands by turning the key in the ignition and such...a dealer can do it , but many including myself have done it. After reading that you have an 05 I am unsure of the process for that year...so I apologize if I was incorrect. I do know that you can do that for the 97-03's for a fact though yourself
This whole issue was discussed at length like two months ago. Get any 04-08 GP and program the remotes, post a video, then I might believe you. We had the same “opinions” posted before, same BS as now. Go ahead, it would make a lot of peoples day.
Your secret procedure not posted anywhere, but it should be similar to an 03 or older.
97-03 only!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IMPORTANT: Before entering programming mode, have in possession all of the remotes you
will be useing on the vehicle. Once you program the remote. all previous remotes that were
programmed will be erased from memory. The other remotes will not be functional until you
program the them again.
1. Remove the key from the ignition.
2. Close all doors.
3. Remove the "MALL PGM" fuse from the fuse panel. Use the legend on the fuse panel or
owner's manual to properly locate the "MALL PGM" fuse.
4. Insert the key into the ignition, and turn to the ACC position.
5. Turn the key to OFF and then back to ACC within 1 second.
6. Open and close any vehicle door. A chime will be heard when the system enters into
programming mode.
7. Press and hold the remote LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously for 14 seconds.
IMPORTANT: After 7 seconds, a chime may be heard confirming successful
synchronization. It is necessary to wait approximately 14 seconds for a second chime
that will confirm successful programming.
8. Repeat step 7 now for each additional remotes to be programmed including any existing
remotes.
9. Remove key from ignition.
10. Install the "MALL PGM" fuse back into the fuse panel and test remote

There is no onboard programming procedure for this vehicle. This vehicle requires special equipment be connected to the vehicle to program the keyless remote.
yep...that is what I thought and as further proof of you guys could have used the search feature:http://www.grandprixforums.net/f81/k...ing-22353.html
This also determined that the procedure was for 03 and earlier...04's and up need to go to the dealer.
04's have a work around if you know someone with an 00-05 impala, simply install your keyless reciever into a buddys impala and go through the programming procedure on the factory stereo, once done reinstall back into your grand prix and your good to go
The reciever in the impala is under the left side of the windshield defroster trim, where as the 04 grand prix has it on the right side under the defroster trim.
In 05 this place became the area for the available navigation antenna and the reciever moved near the bqack window.
05's and up this wont work unfortunatly and have to be done through a dealer.
Might seem like a lot of work, but really isnt and feasible if your dealer wants a rediculous amount of money just for programming.
